The protagonist of my screenplay is a Hitman named Jack wilkinson, a hitman hired to take out a target for a client but goes wrong. My protagonist is described to be a middle aged man with black hair wearing a black suit. The audience appeal of my protagonist will be good in someways and bad in others as his is a killer however he is taking down a bad organisation which puts him in a good light.
The sporting characters in my screen play are; Jack's friend, a retired hitman around 45 years old that turns Jack down at the start but comes back to help jack in his final moments and is killed when doing so. The Antagonist for my screenplay is a Mob Boss named Antonio Falcone he is at the head of the Falcone crime family and the Italian Mafia he is a large man around 50 years old with grey hair a gold cross hung around his neck and a shirt with the top 3 buttons undone. There is also a series of mob members, all male aged between 18-25 with all different features.
The main plot points of my screen play are as follows: The Hitman is hired to take out a target and after killing him realises he is a member of the Italian mob, the hitman then calls his client and goes to his house and kills him in a fit of rage. His house is then invaded and he kills the men forcing him to leave his house. He calls his friend but is denied so camps in an abandoned warehouse. the men find him and he is knocked out. He escapes his restraints and gets into a firefight receiving help from his friend. his friend is killed and he is shot. after a talk with the antagonist the screen goes black and a gunshot is heard.
Actions/directions: I have used actions and directions in my script to describe to the director what is happening in each scene so they may direct it in there way and also for the actors so they can know how to act out each given scene.
Extensions: i have used extensions in instances when a character is for example whispering so that it is clear how the line is scripted to be put across.
Formatting: i have used the Warner Bros script template for to format of my screenplay this is so that all of the lines for example speech or action lines are in the correct position on the page. it also insures that the script sticks to the one page per on screen minuet by using the font size of 12 and the correct font with the correct paragraph spaces.
When inputting a characters name the name is put in CAPITAL letters. this is done because when the actor is reading the script it stands out and the actor can see where there part comes in.
Action is written like on a normal page and in the correct font this is done so that the film can line up with the time (one page = one min) and so that it is easy to read and understand by the director.
When you put in dialogue this moves to the centre of the page. the reasoning for this is so the the actors can easily separate the action from the dialogue so they know when to speak and what to say.
Scene headings are written at the right side of the page to clearly separate it from the rest of the screenplay.
Timing: My brief was to create a 10 min or less short film and sticking to the format i have kept my screen play shorter than 10 pages so that it doesn't exceed the run time i have been allowed.
