Methods of Funding in Media Productions

Funding is needed when it comes to media productions as it is a very expensive proses and requires a lot of money to pay staff and for equipment.

Sponsorship: Is when a company sponsors a production and has there product places before and after each break or there product is used in the production e.g. friends is sponsored by Pukka Pies.

Advertising: Is when brands place there adverts in the breaks of TV shows and other media such as YouTube videos and before a film in the cinema.

Crowed Funding: Is when a company or person sets up a website to gain money from fans and viewers using websites such as gofundme.com.

corporate finance: Is asking for a company to back your project in exchange for advertisement and profit. for example Kaos Solutions Ltd.

UK Copyright laws

The UK copyright law fact sheet outlines the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, the principal legislation covering intellectual property rights in the United Kingdom and the work to which it applies. Copyright law originated in the United Kingdom from a concept of common law; the Statute of Anne 1709.

For my advert i must make sure that the music used behind the video is not protected by copyright laws and is allowed to be used publicly.

UK filming in public laws

In Public

If you're an amateur movie maker or a member of the IAC, when making a normal movie in a public location, you will not have any problems with the police unless causing an obstruction. You do no need a permit to film or photograph public places and police have no power to stop you filming.

In Private

Technically all of Britain is owned by someone, owners might be private individuals, companies, organisations or even the Queen etc. These landlords usually have limits on photographing and filming on their land/property as they may wish.

Filming Children

For young people under 18 get parental consent to use an image for promotional purposes. Make sure parents and carers are aware of your organisation's photography policy. Ask parents to sign a consent form for use of their child's images and keep a record. In our case, we would make sure that both the children and the parents were completely aware and happy with our policy about filming, and know what the use of the video would be. In order to achieve this consent, we would have the parents sign a parental release form for minors.
